| I had my first RCIA class today.
Please pray for some of the people in the group because the Church is
close to the University it attracts many well-educated people. For
example there are about 10 people in our RCIA class and withing the
class there are 4 medical students, 2 MBA canditates, and me the
undergraduate. The other people seem kind of intimidated in the
sense that they feel you know less than them. So, please pray for
them to have strength. Also, there are a few people in the group
who seem to only really be there because they want to get married and
getting confirmed seems necessary for that to happen. Please pray
that they would get more than they had anticipated.

| To all whom were wondering, it is St. Matthew in the new profile picture.
I have recently been very busy. I joined the debate team and my
first tournament is this Saturday. Who knows if I will be
ready? Also, I just returned from California. It was nice
seeing my grandparents but really the trip has exhausted me especially
with October approaching which is packed with events including my 21st
birthday on October 28th.

conquered. But the victory is God's. It began on
Resurrection morning, and will continue as long as the world remains."

| So, I just got back from Saint Anne Church. I got the time of the
RCIA figured out here is what the bulletin for today's Mass says:
"Because St. Anne parish is such a special community, I am happy to
tell you that several people, about twelve or so, have indicated that
they are interested in becomin Catholic Christians and members of our
Faith Communicty. They have been invidted to an informational
meeting on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 PM in the Rectory Basement Meeting
Room to come and find out more about the process of RCIA (Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults). This meeting, and all the
succeeding ones, are on Tuessday eveinings until May 2006. May I
ask that if you know anyone who might be interested in RCIA, that you
would please encourage them to attend the meeting, or siply call me and
I will invite them. May I ask too, that you please pray for these
"inquirers:, and for all who journey in faith. If any of you
woulld like to become involved in any other way (sponsor, prayer
partener or catechis, etc.), may I ask yhat you please call me or watch
the bulletin for more RCIA news.
The RCIA is on of the most rewarding parts of my ministry here at St.
Anne. This year we will be combininog our RCIA group with Our
Lady of Lourdes. Deacon Bob Schrader, their coordinator, and I
have met this summer and worked out a calendar which will accommodate
both groups. This promises to add to our excitement and continued
sharing with Our Lady of Lourdes...."
But what to do until then?

| I have just about given up on Campus ministries....
This past Sunday I attended Newman Catholic Mass. Newman is the
on Campus Catholic group. I have never been one to care that much about
how Mass is conducted, this is probably a consequence of only gone
mostly to just one parish. I did attend an Eastern Rite Mass,
which was done in the St. John Chrysostom style so obviously there was
no complaining there.
Some of the things I noticed about Newman Catholic Mass...
1)No Crucifix just a simple cross
2) No pews and very few people kneeling while prayers are done (my friend may have been the only one).
3)Many people showing up approximately 30-40 minutes late and leaving immediately after partaking of the Eucharist.
4) Most of the songs chosen were very wishy-washy and lacked
biblical/theological significane, I considered the songs to be
very secular.
5) The homily was bad, the priest discussed mostly about
how he needed to be corrected concerning his use of foul language.
6) Everything was done in an odd manner, I know this is vague but I'll leave it the way it is.
7) The prayers included in the "Lord please hear our prayer,"
portion of Mass included things that seemed very much from the Democrat
political agenda such as equal treatment of government workers.
Then I went to Agape Christian Fellowship...
Again the music was lacking in biblical/theological content. Like
Newman the worship portion of the meeting was very similar to that
South Park episode where Cartman takes hit love songs and replaces
"baby" with "Lord," or the "you" is just capitalized. The biggest
problem that I have with the songs that have become popular on campuses
is that they seem very secular in the sense that someone who is
non-Christian could easily enjoy singing them. They are often
lacking in Christian significance.
The other problem I have with this group is that there is overwhelming
support for very liberal theologians who lack respect for Holy
practices that were instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ. The
topics never come up but I have read some of the writings of these
theologians considering the Eucharist and Baptism. They go almost
as far as to reject the two practices entirely.
So, I will be retiring to St. Anne's Catholic Church and hope that
things get better.
By the way, I ended up accepting an internship at Merrill Lynch thank you for your prayers.
